Frequently Asked Questions: June 12th Webconference

We have had a groundswell of interest for the “Tackling Global Warming: Challenges for Boards and their Advisors” Conference. Below are some frequently asked questions:

  1. How much does the Conference Cost?
There is no cost – nor is there a need to register in advance. The webconference is freely available to the general public.
  2. Do I need to register for the Conference? How do I attend a Webconference?
No. We want you to be able to access the webconference as easily as you can. Simply come to TacklingGlobalWarming.com on the day of the Conference and click the link for each panel to listen. All of the panel links are now available; the times shown are merely to give you a sense of how long each panel is.
  3. Will there be video available of the Conference?
No. This is an audio webconference only – there is no video.
  4. Will there be course materials available for the Conference?
There are course materials only for two panels. Any course materials are provided in PDF format and not shown as Power Point slides.
You will need to print any course materials yourself – they will be labeled "Course Materials" on the web page of the applicable panel.
  5. Since we must listen to the webcast by audio webcast, what type of equipment and connection will I need?
Here's what you'll need to listen to the webcast:
    • At least a 28.8Kbps connection to the Internet for audio only. At least a 56Kbps connection to the Internet to view the video. (However, for video, 100 Kbps is preferable.)
    • You will need one of the following two "players" to access the video webcast: click here to check whether you already have the Windows Media Player or RealPlayer, which also allows you to determine whether you have the proper connectivity or any potential firewall issues.

If you don't have it, you will need the free Windows Media Player (download here) or the free RealPlayer (download here). Please note that after downloading the software, you must install it. Simply downloading the software will not allow access to the archive. Downloading and/or installing the software may require permission from your network administrator.

    • If you are still unable to access the archive, contact your IT department.
  6. For how long will I have access to the audio archives of the Conference?
We intend to make the audio archives of the Conference freely available until December 31, 2007.
  7. What if I can't watch the Conference because I am too busy that day?
We will be archiving every single minute of the Conference – so you can go back and listen to the Conference at any time until the end of 2007.
  8. Can I earn continuing education credit for attending the Conference?
No CPE nor CLE credits are available for attending the Conference.
  9. Will written transcripts of the panels from the Conference be made available?
No. However, an audio archive of each panel will be available.
  10. Can I ask questions before, during or after the Conference?
You can forward your questions by e-mailing them to info@tacklingglobalwarming.com. However, due to limited available time, the panelists will not be able to answer questions during the Conference. But we will endeavor to get your questions answered by email.
  11. What is the purpose of the Conference?
To provide guidance to boards and their advisors about the issues they will all be facing as climate change continues to be a harsh new reality.
